OZARK ARTS COUNCIL SPOTLIGHTS COMMUNITY ARTISTS SHANNON WURST, AND THE THREE PENNY ACRE BAND OCTOBER 17, 2008.
HARRISON, AR (October 12, 2008). – In an effort to promote appreciation of the artistic talent that resides right here in the community, the Ozark Arts Council has established the “Community Artist Spotlight.” Featured artists may be musicians, writers, painters, or photographers and will be invited to showcase their talents in the Lyric Theater.
The first artists to be showcased are Shannon Wurst and the Three Penny Acre Band. They will perform in the Lyric Theater on October 17, 2008 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for members/students/seniors and $5 for children.
Shannon Wurst is Americana, playing traditional and original mountain tunes. Dave Brewer from High Country News in Boone, North Carolina writes, “Ms. Wurst’s unique voice is simultaneously sweet and sultry, a versatile instrument recalling a young Dolly Parton, while stirring echos of Australian country singer, Kassey Chambers.”
The Three Penny Acre Band are the 2008 Walnut Valley Newsong Winners. Bayard Blain plays the mandolin and guitar. Bernice Hembree plays the acoustic bass and Bryan Hembree plays guitar, mandolin, and brushbucket.
